May 4th:

And if thought a few flakes of snow would
cancel a second autocross in as many weeks,
you were clearly mistaken.

Snow in the distance
Above:  This image may not look like much to the average Joe,
but to a native Albertan it looks a lot like an oncoming snow storm.

A chilly Dave Adams Left:  Its a chilly morning to be out in the wind ...

Right:  ... so the management team huddles to keep warm.
Huddling around the heater
More huddling around the heater Left: Almost everyone needs a winter jacket, hat and gloves.  No more jokes about the Canadian army, eh?

Right:  Accessorizing for an Alberta autocross.  No, not the authentic 1964 TAG Heuer Carrera edition chrono ...  the 25,000 BTU propane heater.
And still more huddling around the heater
And more huddling around the heater These photos of the drivers' safety meeting are taken only two minutes apart.  But apparently that's how long it takes for folks to retreat to the warmth of their cars (can you tell who's missing?) And you guessed it - still more huddling around the heater

No huddling here - just hard work
Above: And finally, those who weren't in attendance might want to take a close look.
Yup, that's Harold setting up a new autocross course.  And the keeners who braved
the cold and snow now have the clear advantage of one extra practice session.

P.S.:  If you thought you were going to see some great action shots of cars careening
toward the rhubarb as they attempted to negotiate the cones on cold, hard tires,
sorry to disappoint.  The photographer's shutter finger got cold and he elected to
retreat to the warm and spacious cabin of an SUV.
