Tour # 1 ... the recap

Ready to head out

Eleven cars and 16 owners were in attendance May 17th for Polar Region's inaugural Early Morning Breakfast Tour.  The planned route took us from Edmonton northwest toward Onoway, north through the summer village of Sandy Beach, west to Morinville, and then back through St. Albert to Edmonton.  Despite a rather gloomy weather forecast, the day started out under bright, sunny skies.  And really, when you think about it, cool, dense, early morning air is just perfect for generating a few extra horsepower.

P.S.:  Don't let the rather straight look of the above roadmap fool you - there were lots of sweeping curves and undulations to keep your interest.

Breakfast for the early risers Left:  The early risers made it in time for a hearty and leisurely breakfast at West Harvest Inn

Right:  With this many Porsches in a row, the view through the mirror is certainly easy on the eyes.

Minivan saves speeding ticket Left:  A bit later this relatively slow moving mini-van saved us from an RCMP officer in oncoming traffic.

Right:  The geriatric-bladder crowd needed a pit stop, and Sandy Beach seemed inviting.

After another RCMP officer decided to take a closer at our shiny Porsches through most of St. Albert, we made our way back to

for complimentary Coffee and Muffins.  Luckily, it wasn't until after we arrived that the first flakes of snow started to fall.

Our thanks to Ivor for all his hard work organizing not just this inaugural tour, but another five more tours for the season including the Jasper Jaunt (»more).  Thanks also to Peter and Ruth for bringing up the rear and making sure no one got separated from the rest of the pack.  And finally, our continued thanks to Ben and everyone at Norden for their unwavering support of Club activities.
